[Kevin's kneeling on the floor with his arm around a dark brown dog. Its wagging tail keeps smacking him in the butt which is starting to make him laugh and he can't quite get it to stop licking his face.]

So does anyone know some good names for a dog? [There's a pause.] Or does he already have one?

[He's trying to walk the dog down to Jesse's room. It's hard going. The dog keeps either running ahead or stopping to sniff at something.]

Here, boy!

[The dog doesn't listen to him. No, it barks as it runs over to a closed door and sniffs along the floor, whining.]

No! Come here, boy!

[He finally gets down to Jesse's room with the dog. He knocks on his warden's door, practically vibrating with excitement.]

Jesse? It's me.

[He looks up, grinning.]

A little, maybe. I just got him.

[Wetboys aren't really huge dog fans, admittedly. They sniff too much. Still, he'll kneel down to pet him. Dog probably already got his scent, it's a bit too late to run now.]

I'm no expert, but I always heard rewards work pretty well for them. He got a name?

Yeah? [That makes sense.] I don't know what he likes yet. But I'll remember that.

No, not yet. I don't know any good dog names. [And he hasn't even had it for an hour yet.]

Dogs'll eat anything. But meat usually works.

[He'll shrug.]

You'll figure something out.

Meat. [He ruffles the dog's fur.] I'll have to get some from the kitchen.

So how'd you get a dog onto this ship, anyways?

Jesse asked the Admiral to get him for me.

[mercurialize]

And the almighty Admiral was fine with it?

[You say Jesse like he should know who that is in an instant. Maybe he should, then.]

Jesse's your warden, I take it?

[fire_punk]

I guess. He left the dog in my room.

[He nods.] Yeah. [And, from the look on his face, Kevin's really fond of his warden.]

Wait, you mean the dog just suddenly appeared in your room?

[fire_punk]

Well... He wasn't there when I fell asleep last night.

[mercurialize]

[Ooh, that makes him uneasy.]

Well. That must have been a surprise.

[fire_punk]

Yeah. But it was a good one. [He pets the dog lovingly.]

[mercurialize]

[There's a humble smile on his face as he observes the brief bonding. But in his head the gears are turning as to how he can better the privacy of his room. He'll need to find some darts to start with, a pulley, spring...]

Right then. Anyways, I won't keep you. See you around.

[fire_punk]

Yeah, see you.

[He knows, of course, that the dog ought to be coming. There's no reason for the Admiral to turn this one down, even as randomly douchey as the Admiral can be. He's trying to play it cool, waiting for Kevin to come to him -- but then Izzy starts whining as the unfamiliar smell approaches, and if he taps into his wolf thing he can sort of sense it too, and that's all weird and cool and it makes him sort of giddy in return when he goes to the door.

Still, he puts on a nonchalant look, a lopsided smile.] 'Sup, my man?

[fire_punk]

Thanks, Jesse! You got him!

[The dog barks happily, pushing between them to sniff at Jesse.]

[yeahscience]

Hey. Yeah. [He laughs, holding out a hand for the new dog.] You earned it, okay. What are you calling him?

I don't know. What's a good name for a dog?

[yeahscience]

You gotta go for something cool, badass, like, you know... Slayer or Motley or Flea or something.

[fire_punk]

[He scratches the dog's head.]

What do you think, boy? Is Slayer good?

[The dog turns around and knocks him over, standing on his chest to lick at his face. Kevin turns his head, laughing.] Eww! Okay, okay, you like it!
